DIY Brooch

Hi there. Here is my first project I would like to share, a pegasus brooch made from shrink plastic. This one was made especially for a fellow crafter. You can do ANY design, experiment and see what works for you.

Equipment

  1.  Shrink film/plastic ( I use Grafix Shrink Film),
  2.  Baking paper (very important you don't wont the plastic melting onto the metal tray),
  3.  Permanent Marker and Coloured pencils,
  4.  Glue ( I use E-6000, or any super glue that can   bond plastic and metal)
  5.  Brooch/pin (just from craft store),
  6.  scissors
  7. Imagination

Step 1 Preheat oven to 160 degrees celcius, and line a baking tray with baking paper.

Step 2 Draw your design with permanent marker onto the shrink film/plastic. Colour in if you like with either colured pencils or coloured permenant markers
Step 3 Cut around your design
Step 4 Place your cut out design onto the lined baking tray and place in the oven for about 5 minutes (you can watch it curl and flatten out again I find it quite cool:)

Step 5 Take the whole tray out of the oven and allow to cool (CAUTION: the shrink plastic will still be very HOT when you take it out of the oven and still quite pliable, however it will cool and harden within a few minutes) .Your design will have shrunk and be about a third of the size it was originally.
Step 6
Once cool, glue the pin/brooch to the back of your design, I usually don't try to wear the brooch until the glue has at least a few hours to set strong.
Step 7 Enjoy your awesome piece of jewellery - handmade by YOU:)

The possibilities are endless you could make so many things with this stuff; earrings, pendants, rings - as long as you have the imagination anythings possible.

Thank YOU:)
